Egypt prisons fellow benefactor of the Civil Democratic Movement

Cairo’s Court of Misdemeanors condemned Yahya Hussein Abdel Hadi, prime supporter of the Civil Democratic Movement, to four years in jail, for dispersing bogus news, his attorney, Khaled Ali said.

The arraignment contended that Abdel Hadi had “intentionally scattered misleading news inside and outside” Egypt and requested he is rebuffed.

Abdel Hadi’s legal counselor said the case is connected with an article composed and distributed by Abdel Hadi, taking note of that the case was researched in 2018 by the Nasr City Prosecution, and his client was delivered on bail.

Ali added that Abdul Hadi has been detained for forthcoming examinations and spent over two years in pretrial confinement.

The previous decision can be bespoke to a higher court.
