A new viral video purports to show Thomas Matthew Crooks, the assailant who targeted former President Trump, acting suspiciously before the attempt on his life. The footage emerged alongside reports claiming Crooks was seen using a rangefinder just moments before the shooting.

According to CBS News, a sniper from a local tactical team deployed to support the Secret Service at the Pennsylvania rally photographed Crooks observing through a rangefinder shortly before opening fire. Three snipers, positioned on the roof of the building from which Crooks shot, were part of the response team.

Criticism has been directed at the Secret Service for perceived lapses in protecting Donald Trump. Calls for the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle have intensified in response. Cheatle defended the agency, citing challenges such as the steep incline of the building’s roof which prevented rooftop surveillance.

Crooks was neutralized by Secret Service snipers after injuring Trump and two others, resulting in the tragic death of firefighter Corey Comperatore.

The video has sparked widespread reaction online. One user questioned why Crooks was not detained upon being seen with a rangefinder near the President, while others expressed frustration over security failures and demanded accountability from the Secret Service. Some voiced suspicions about the incident, suggesting a deliberate attempt on Trump’s life.

The ongoing scrutiny underscores broader concerns about security protocols and the aftermath of the attempted assassination.
